Since my son was born in February, I've used Luvs the most and I really, really like them. I buy them at BJ's and with coupons, they work out to about 11 cents a diaper. I've used Huggies and I like them too, but I find them to be bigger than the Luvs. They also have much more padding on the bottom, which you think would be a good thing, but it makes them hard to tell if he needs to be changed. When my daughters were babies I ONLY used BJ's brand diapers. I really liked them and never had a problem with leakage or rashes. But, my daughters are 7 and almost 6 so it's been a while since I've used them. I would buy them again, but since the Luvs are cheaper with Q's, I'll stick with them for now. If the Luvs Q's dry up, then I will buy the BJ's brand. HTH!! |

With my son, it was Luvs all the way. He had an allergy to Pampers and Huggies. With my daughter, it was Huggies all the way. They just fit her better than anything else. Store brands may have improved since my children were babies, but, I found that store brands were a waste of money. _________________ Trudy

After 3 babies, I think it just depends on what diaper works for the baby's shape. For my 1st, pampers worked the best. Now, for my 3rd, I really like huggies. I have found that when I wait for a sale, like at HT or Foodlion, I can get them for 10cents each with a coupon (huggies frequently has great coupons).
I also like the BJs diapers.
I don't know why, but LUVs always leaked for my babies. So maybe it was just a fit issue.
I also like the Walgreens diapers, and would buy them a lot when I could get them for 2 to 3 dollars a pack, but I haven't seen wags run that sale in a long long time
I like Pampers the most, but think they are too expensive.
Sorry to ramble, hope this helps. _________________ Amanda |

After two kids, the youngest just turned two and is still in diapers, I have determined Target brand to be the best diaper for the money. It usually is cheaper than the name brands even when I use coupons. However, occasionally if there is a good sale and I have coupons name brands workout to be the same or perhaps a tad cheaper. Of the name brands, Huggies are my favorite. Pampers Baby Dry are good too, but I really dislike the Pampers Cruisers. A second place store brand is Walgreens. I have tried the Playskool diapers at CVS - they are good but still pricey. I have tried the Harris teeter brand - they're alright. The Lowe's Foods brand - is terrible - don't waste your money. I don't think I have tried Walmart brand. I dislike Luvs almost as much as the Lowe's foods brand.
For price and quality, Target is the best hands down - and you don't have to fumble around for a coupon to get a good price. Their training pants are great too! _________________ SDavis |

My son is almost 5. For him I used Pampers Cruisers & Baby Dry (everything else leaked). I normally bought them on sale with Man. Coupon and Target Coupons.
My daughter is almost 1 and with her I had a stock pile of a variety I purchased on sale before she was even conceived!! But since I've used them all, I either do the Luvs w/ coupons at BJs; Luvs w/ coupons at Target or Target brand. And occasionally if I can get a good deal I'll get Pamper's BabyDry.
But I'm not sure what I'm going to do about training pants... w/ my son I loved Pampers Easy-ups.... I guess I'm hoping she trains sooner and faster than he did!!! _________________ Christina Czysz

I agree that it's almost a personal choice thing. It's about your baby's shape, sex, allergies, and urination pattern! Factor in price and your head starts to spin. I would search for samples online. Find out if you have friends that you can "borrow" a few of their brand to try. Maybe we need to have a diaper swap thread on here so folks can sample other brands without purchasing an entire package.
For our son, we tried several store brands and he always leaked. Other folks have no problems with store brands....while some use the store brands for day and the more expensive ones for night to avoid leaks if it's a problem for them. Our son has ended up using Pampers. He has fewer leaks, and no rashes. Huggies break him out. I don't know why. I wish it wasn't so! We're hoping that the Pull-ups don't have the same gel in them....or hopefully less of it so he won't break out. I love how Huggies Pull-ups allow you to refasten the sides....Pampers Pull-ups force you to pull the diaper up and down.
Good Luck! |
